Emilee Moore is grateful that her hometown has given her lots of support.

A lot of work is put into a music video, but collecting almost 100 bunnies for the video was something a Richmond-born singer and songwriter was not expecting to happen.

Emilee Moore, who is based in L.A., made a call on social media for 75 stuffed bunnies in preparation for a music video shoot last year, and the response was huge.

The Richmond community, she said, gave her “tremendous support” in the form of stuffed animal donations.

Moore told the Richmond News that the bunnies were needed for her song, which is part of her new EP titled “When It Kills Me: Part Two.”

The EP, she added, talks about the pain of one’s first love and heartbreak.

“Some family members and friends wanted to support the music video, so they bought them and sent them my way,” said Moore.

“We ended up collecting close to 100 (bunnies) and they all made it into the music video.”

Steven, Moore’s father, who used to be a pastor at Richmond Pentecostal Church, recalled that some stuffed bunnies used in the video came from local thrift stores, friends’ closets and donations from online fans.

“You will see in the video that we found a lot of bunnies - we still have a few that show up around the house when the grandkids are around,” said Steven.

Part of the music video design and setup was built and tested in Moore’s parents’ backyard in Richmond last year.

The final EP will be released on May 5 on all streaming platforms, such as YouTube music, apple music and Spotify.
