Richmond hotpot restaurant shut down for lack of health permit

The restaurant will have to remain closed until all its health documents are approved.

A hotpot restaurant in Richmond's food district has been shut down until further notice for operating without a health permit.

Spice World Restaurant, known for its Chinese hotpot and skewers offering and late-night hours, was shut down on Feb. 13.

The owner was operating a food service establishment without a permit and the premises had not been approved per the Food Premises Regulation, according to a Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) closure order displayed at the entrance.

The order was issued following an inspection conducted on the same day.

Spice World was ordered to close its premises to the public and cease all food production until all required health documents are submitted to and approved by VCH.

It must also contact Richmond Environmental Health for a re-inspection, according to the order.

The restaurant's address is 8580 Alexandra Road in the Venezia Place plaza.
