1. Road hockey: Saturday, May 13: Canada’s favourite game hits the asphalt at Lansdowne Centre’s (5300 No. 3 Road) parking lot on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. during the PlayOn! Ball hockey tournament.

Canada’s favourite game hits the asphalt at Lansdowne Centre’s (5300 No. 3 Road) parking lot on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. during the PlayOn! Ball hockey tournament. Male, female and co-ed teams in divisions ranging from 7 and under through 55 and older and Elite will get to ‘play’ like good Canadian kids do. This event will feature over 3,000 participants, 200 volunteers, 150 referees and over 10,000 spectators. With divisions for all ages and skill levels; anyone can play. 2. Public Works Open House: Saturday May 13:

Get a peek at what goes on behind the scenes to keep Richmond running smoothly at the annual Engineering and Public Works open house on May 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City Operations Yard (5599 Lynas Lane). Come out and enjoy the many activities available for all ages such as going on and inside dump trucks, graders, excavators and other real-life, full-size heavy equipment or stick your hands in the cement display. Kids of all ages can win free prizes and go for a hay ride tour of the Works Yard. There will also be face-painting, a children’s play area and live entertainment. In addition, there will be gardening and lawn care information, interactive environmental exhibits with conservation and sustainability tips, as well as a Show and Shine classic car show sponsored by CUPE 394.

3. Richmond Night Market: Friday - Sunday May 12 - 14:

Get outdoors in the evening as the Richmond Night Market Magical Dino Park returns for another season with big family fun, which is 200 million years in the making and home to 18 dinosaurs, that move, roar and take you on a prehistoric adventure. Located at 8351 River Road, the market this year features an expanded, international food fair with more than 100 vendors serving up in excess of 500, tasty dishes from all over the world. For the young ones there’s a giant kid’s zone, with inflatable fun, including the Magical Smiley Castle, cute baby dinosaurs, and happy face characters to meet, playful fountains and a talking tree. The market runs Fridays and Saturdays from 7 – midnight and Sundays from 7 – 11 p.m. Free parking available. Admission:  General $3.25; Senior-60 plus free; Kids 10 years and under free.
