Canada Berries Music Festival: Saturday and Sunday, June 24 - 25:
The 2017 Canada Berries Gospel Music Festival June 24 and 25 is expected to be one of the city’s largest gatherings in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday. The special guest will be Juno nominated artist Warren Dean Flandez on June 24 at 2 p.m. Canadian tenor Denis Mayer Jr. will follow at 2:30 p.m. And gospel recording artist Marcello Reid will perform on June 25 at 7 p.m. In addition to the fine music, there will be around 60 booths from different vendors for food, product showcases and art performances. Saturday and Garden open house: Saturday and Sunday, June 24 - 25:
If you are a fan of cactus and succulents there is an open house June 24 and 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 12300 Woodhead Road. The cactus and succulents display stretches across three backyard greenhouses and the event is an annual display.
UPS Plane Pull: Sunday, June 25:
What does it take to pull a plane along the tarmac? Find out Sunday (June 25) at the fourth annual UPS Plane Pull for United Way of Lower Mainland at the UPS facility (5960 Ferguson Road) on Sea Island. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., UPS is hosting the 21 teams of 15 people will play tug-of-war with a Boeing 757-200 weighing 127,000 pounds. At this fundraising event, teams will compete against each other to see who can pull the plane fastest down the tarmac. All funds raised will help children, families and seniors across the Lower Mainland. The best viewing time is between 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. There will be plenty of family-friendly activities to keep everyone entertained including carnival games and a live band. Kids also get a chance to flex their muscles and pull a Cessna 208 Grand Caravan. New this year is a show and shine featuring 10 cars from 1929 to the present.
