An internationally known concert pianist will be performing with the Richmond Orchestra at a local church on May 6.

Libby Yu, who has graced international stages such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Carnegie Recital Hall in New York and Le Chatre in Nohant, is set to perform Rachmaninoff Variations on a Theme of Paganini accompanied by the Richmond Orchestra.

Yu, who is a Richmond resident, regularly collaborates in chamber music and duo recitals. She also tours around B.C. and Vancouver Island as a member of the Aurora Piano Trio. She was recently presented with the 2023 philanthropic catalyst award from BC Cancer in recognition of her contribution to the foundation.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available online at $23 for adults, $20 for seniors and students and $15 for groups of five or more. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $25 and children 12 and younger may attend for free if accompanied by an adult.
