Richmond kid's art honouring veterans to be on display in Ottawa

The winning artwork to be displayed in the House of Commons or at the Canadian War Museum.

A young Richmond artist's work may soon be displayed in the House of Commons in Ottawa.

Nine-year-old Quentin Li, a student at Richmond's Canada X Academy of Art and Design, earned first place in the Primary Black and White Poster category of the 2025 National Youth Remembrance Contest.

The contest — organized by The Legion National Foundation in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion — encourages young Canadians to honour veterans through art, writing and videos.

Quentin competed at the BC/Yukon Command provincial level, and as a first-place winner, his award-winning poster will be displayed either in the House of Commons in Ottawa or at the Canadian War Museum.

Quentin, along with fellow students Bowen Shao and May An, also received awards for their artwork in the Peace Arch Zone of the contest.

Last year, four students from Canada X Academy of Art and Design were similarly recognized at the Peace Arch Zone level, with two winning honours at the BC/Yukon Command level.
