Outdoor summer concert coming to Richmond Gateway Theatre

Local performing artists aim to reunite audience members in Richmond

Bring out that picnic blanket, drinks and snacks because Gateway Theatre is taking its live performances outdoors this summer in Richmond.

The Songs of Summer event, presented by the Gateway Theatre in collaboration with KPU and the TD Grove Stage, is kicking off on July 10.

A series of outdoor concerts featuring local performing artists is aiming to bring together audience members during the ongoing pandemic.

Performances include singer-songwriter Amanda Sum, performing artists Tiana Jung and Jason Sakaki, Steffanie Davis and Krystle Dos Santos.

Each group of concert-goers can bring their own chairs to sit in their own marked-out “bubble” so they can safely stay in to enjoy the show.

Barbara Tomasic, Gateway Theatre’s director of artistic programs, said it is an opportunity for people to reconnect, gather, and celebrate live performance.

“We’ve been waiting for this chance to reunite with our community in person,” said Tomasic.

Each concert will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. on the grass at the Gateway Theatre Grove.

Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased from http://gatewaytheatre.com/summer-concerts
