Richmond resident Fred Pawluk published a memoir focusing on quirky and humours experiences growing up.

“Laughter is a necessity in life.”

This is what Richmond resident Fred Pawluk lives by and hopes it’s reflected in his recently published memoir.

Pawluk’s self-published book “Life, Laughter, Lessons – Life is Funnier Than Fiction” shares “quirky, humorous and relatable” stories from his life starting at the early age of five.

While most of the stories are humorous, there’s a sprinkle of seriousness and “twisted life experiences” that taught him valuable life lessons.

“Laughter just lightens the load and it’s an indication of happiness in individuals.”

Pawluk has lived in Richmond since 1978 and has been involved with the community including competing as a Kajaks Track and Field athlete.

He was inducted into the Richmond Sports Wall of Fame in 2019.

Many of his fond memories featured in the book involve spending time with his grandchildren.

“I would like people to identify with some of the circumstances that I described (in the book) and trigger their memories so they can recall their own similar situations too.”

But ultimately, it is a book to make people laugh.

Pawluk told the Richmond News the memoir was 10 years in the making and finally published in January.

“It was great to finally hold the book in my hands.

“The best part of (the process) I would say was just the satisfaction of being able to write down the memories and reacquaint myself with those situations.

A second book is in the works as he still has a lot of stories left, Pawluk noted.

“Life, Laughter, Lessons – Life is Funnier Than Fiction” can be found online at Indigo, Barnes and Nobles, Amazon and other online book stores.
