Emerging theatre artists now have a chance to enhance their skills and experiences at Gateway Theatre with some of the finest professional artists and educators in the country.
The Gateway Theatre Conservatory will provide five workshops that explore elements of performance, directing and the theatre industry from February to April 2018 for 12 students, aged 16 to 22.
“The program is created to serve students and emerging artists before they go to post-secondary or professional training,” said Ruth McIntosh, education manager of Gateway Theatre.
“Students will have an opportunity to meet with and learn from artists they would not otherwise have access to, for instance, Kawa Ada, main actor of our show Salt-Water Moon,” said Mclntosh.
She said the program will also help students build connections, which is important in this industry.
“The theatre industry is one that is pretty much built on connections. The more you show your interest, your skills and your employability, the more opportunities will arrive,” said Mclintosh.
“We will select the students who will demonstrate to most benefit from the program.”
The deadline for applications is Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018. The program fee is $150. For more information, check out GatewayTheatre.com/Education/
