City calls for Richmond Arts Awards nominations

Richmondites who know an artist, cultural leader or arts supporter deserving of recognition for their arts contributions, are invited to submit their nominations for this year’s Richmond Arts Awards.

The annual awards program, now in its 14th year, is put on by the City of Richmond and Richmond Arts Coalition to recognize innovative artists, cultural leaders and supporters, including volunteers and sponsors, for their contributions to Richmond’s arts scene.

Nominations for this year’s awards can be made in the following categories:

  • Arts Education
  • Artistic Innovation
  • Business and the Arts
  • Cultural Leadership
  • Volunteerism
  • Youth Arts

All artistic disciplines are eligible, including visual, performing, literary and culinary arts, as well as craft, environmental arts and new media.

Anyone can submit a nomination application online. Nominations are being accepted until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 7.

The winner of the Youth Arts category will be awarded a $200 cash prize from the Richmond Arts Coalition. Performing, literary and visual artists aged 24 or younger are eligible for this category.
