The first Canada China Caligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition wrapped up in Richmond today, which showcased more than 100 works from professional artists in Canada, China and the U.S.

Held at the Chinese Culture Centre at 8171 Ackroyd Road, the exhibition displayed works that include Chinese traditional calligraphy and paintings and also oil paintings.

“At the time of Canada-China Year of Tourism, we held the event in the hope of introducing Chinese culture to people in Canada, a country where all different cultures meet,” said Johnson Shen, chairman of North America Artist Association, who organized the event.

“We also hope the younger generation of Chinese Canadians growing up here will learn about Chinese cultural treasures.”

Zhang said some of the work was created on the spot at the exhibition and that these works were auctioned to raise funds for the North America Artist Association. The most expensive painting had an asking price of more than $50,000.
