The Cambie Branch of Richmond Public Library is holding a free, drop-in program called "Let's Read Together" for parents, caregivers, and preschool age children who want to learn English. The program takes place from 10: 30 a.m. to noon on Fridays, running now to Nov. 30 at the branch at No. 5 Road and Cambie. Open Conversations: The Art Practices of Carole Condé and Karl Beveridge is a new exhibit at Richmond Art Gallery until Nov. 10. The artists define their photo-based art practice around the facilitation of dialogue among diverse communities and networks. Local Volkssport club is hosting a non-competitive 5K/10K walk in Richmond Centre area on Saturday, Oct.13. Free for new participants. For more information, call Verni at 604-682-8390.

The Cambie Fall Fair, at the East Richmond Community Hall, 12360 Cambie Rd., celebrates nature's diversity on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Music will fill the air with acoustic pop/rock artist Dustin Childs, folk singer Betty Berda and master fiddler, Larry Harper. Families will have lots to do in the Kids area with crafts and activities, pony rides and a visit from the Harvest Pumpkin. Not to miss is Siobhan Barker, storyteller, weaving her yarns in the Storytelling tent, and lots more. After the fair wraps up the excitement continues with a Seniors' Hoedown from 2: 30 to 4: 30 p.m. followed by a youth event, Scary Movie and Munchies from 6: 309: 30 p.m. Please call the centre to register for either of these two programs. Note: This is a FREE event and will run rain or shine event.
