The Richmond Gogos present their second Annual Gala Evening- Hand in Hand with African Grandmothers, in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmother to Grandmother Campaign that assists AIDS victims and the grandmothers who are raising AIDS orphans in sub-Saharan Africa. The Gala will take place on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 5: 30 to 9: 30 p.m. at the Richmond Curling Club, 5540 Hollybridge Way. You will enjoy a wonderful meal, entertainment, a marketplace that includes our own crafts, Kazuri jewellery made in Africa, children's baskets and a live auction. Tickets are $40. Every Thursday night is Bingo at St. Paul Parish, 8251 St. Alban's Rd. Come and join an evening of fun and lots of exciting prizes, while supporting programs such as community outreach, youth program, hospital visitations and seniors outreach. On Saturday, Oct. 15 the Richmond Centre for Disability (RCD) is hosting its signature annual fundraiser, Western Roundup at the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel, 7311 Westminster Hwy. There will be a buffet dinner, raflle, 50-50 draws, western and country line dance performance. Join in to live music with Five-anda-Half Cowboys Band. Tickets are $65 or $600 for a table of 10. Every Christmas, the Richmond Christmas Fund distributes grocery vouchers to more than 2,000 low-income local residents and provides nearly 1,000 children under 15 with toys, books, and gift cards. The Christmas Fund is a program that depends on community support. Volunteer opportunities are available as toy room assistants, registration assistants, after school toy sorters, gift wrappers, and more. People of all ages are invited to volunteer, though those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Training will take place in late October and early November.
