Another promising drama has come to the Cambie secondary theatre, as 11 student actors provide their take on the critically-acclaimed Departures and Arrivals.
“Since October actors from grades 8-12 have been working hard in the drama room at Cambie secondary. Always extra-curricular, the productions at Cambie continue to be big events,” said drama teacher Megan Preston.
Departures and Arrivals runs March 7-10 at 7 p.m.
The 11 actors (René Lai, Manraj Dhariwal, Abdullah Abdul-Ramen, Maryam Watt, Ben Pulis, Umar Ali, Cardin Le, Avery Goertzen, Calvin Omana, Olivia Wojewodzic and Jeannie Hung) play 35 different characters, who journey through 19 short scenes.

“Departures and Arrivalsinvites us to eavesdrop on the comings and goings of an entertaining assortment of characters as they experience the often-surreal aspects of plane travel. In this ‘comedy with edges’ we get to witness the characters missed and taken opportunities that shape their lives,” said Preston.
“A quick paced poignant tale, it will not disappoint. This touching human story, is a play with something for everyone, you won’t want to miss it,” she said.
Also contributing this year are Kelvin Lui as lighting designer, Emily Fraser as costume designer and Jasmine Hans as stage manager.
