Richmond’s annual summer reading club is ready to launch on Wednesday, and this year will bring a new theme, a library escape room, writing workshops and a sign language program.

Starting on June 27, children of all ages are encouraged to visit their local Richmond Public Library to sign up, grab a free reading booklet and start recording their summer reading. This year’s theme is “Motion Commotion” and events are scheduled throughout the summer, starting with a magic show at the Brighouse Branch on Sunday, July 8.

Teens can also join a summer reading club and post book reviews on the library’s blog, design a book cover and gain volunteer experience. They can also experience the first ever library escape room.

For adults, the summer reading club began last Thursday. Readers can pick up a free bingo card and make their way through various challenges.

Readers of all ages are then invited to the summer reading club’s finale event on Saturday, Sept. 8. For more information, visit the library’s summer reading club website.
