Throwback pop-up transforms Richmond Centre into the 90s

Several Instagram-worthy rooms will be available for shoppers to visit from Aug.11 to Sept. 4

Cadillac Fairview (CF) Richmond Centre has created a throwback pop-up that is taking people back to the 90s and early 2000s starting Thursday.

The throwback "Revival Room" will feature the "hottest and must-have" fashion trends from the 90s flare, which has been curated by stylist Peter Papetrou, according to Cadillac Fairview.

The 1,565-square-foot pop-up aims to inspire shoppers to find their "look" as fall approaches.

Several "rooms" have been set up next to Zara for the public to take photos from Aug 11 to Sept. 4 during mall hours.

People can expect a high school hallway-like room decorated with lockers, a trophy case, a PA system and the bell and a lounge/rec room with VCRs, sports memorabilia and old school games.

There will also be a fake bedroom with interactive screens for visitors to shop the looks on displays with 90s music playing.

Visitors also have a chance to win $15 to $45 gift cards to CF malls through trivia contests.

"Our custom designed Revival Room experience is an exciting way to discover what '90s/early 2000 trends are enjoying a comeback and find inspiration for season school (or work) looks, while taking a walk down memory lane through our uniquely curated rooms," said Julia Dow, general Manager of CF Richmond Centre, adding that shopping malls were the hangout spots for most 90s kids.
