1.Ships to Shore King of the Sea: Friday May 5 to Sunday May 7:

Steveston is your destination for some maritime fun starting on Friday as the Ships to Shore King of the Sea festival drops anchor for three days packed with entertainment, food and the spectacle of the Japanese tall ship, the Kaiwo Maru.

2. Illumination Night Market: Friday May 5 to Sunday May 7:

The Illumination International Summer Night Market (12631 Vulcan Way) gets switched on May 5 from 7 - midnight with the biggest summer light show in North America. With nine different themes, various exquisite dazzling lanterns weaving a colorful sparkling world. There will be more than 200 food and merchandise booths, plus 20 events and performing shows every week. It’s family-friendly with a featured kid’s play zone and VIP lounge. Excite your taste buds with exotic mouth-watering delights from all around the world and shop for neat gadgets and unique merchandise you can’t find anywhere else. General admission: $3. But during the first weekend admission is free.

3. Steveston Farmers & Artisdan Market: Sunday, May 7:

Come and enjoy an afternoon at the Steveston Farmers & Artisan Market on May 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Steveston Community Centre parking lot (4111 Moncton Street). This popular, annual summer market is a venue where local farmers, artists and craftsperson’s make their products available to the public and this year. The new location for 2017 is in the Easthope parking lot directly across the street from the Steveston Community Centre. The market runs on selected Sundays of each month from May 7 to Sept. 17.
