For the second year, Steveston is “coming alive” with walking tour vignettes.

On Saturdays in June and July, visitors can stroll through Steveston while getting a feel for its past as Hugh McRoberts Secondary School drama students perform five brief plays about life in the seaside community in 1917.

"We're delighted to be bringing these entertaining and informative stories back to the streets of Steveston this year,” said Linda Barnes, chair of the Steveston Historical Society, which is co-presenting the program with the City of Richmond. “Tours sold out last summer, so be sure to catch this unique show while you can!”

Presented by the Steveston Historical Society and the Steveston Museum, the Walking Tour Vignettes are running on Saturdays in June and July at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tours leave from the Steveston Museum and Visitor Centre (3811 Moncton Street) where a costumed guide will lead visitors through the streets of Steveston to each performance. The entire tour lasts approximately one hour and covers just over one kilometre.

Tickets are $10, but children under 12 are free when accompanied by a paying adult (maximum two children per adult). The city recommends booking in advance as spaces are limited. For more information, visit www.historicsteveston.ca/tours.
