Last Saturday, the Sharing Farm played host to the 6th Annual Richmond Day of Caring, an event that highlights the impact of employer-supported volunteering. Organized by Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG), this year’s event saw more than 60 volunteers participate.

Among the businesses and community groups represented were Back In Motion, TD Bank, the Richmond RCMP, Ignite the Warmth Society, the Richmond News, the City of Richmond Public Works Department, and the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Sharing Farm donates its produce to the Richmond Food Bank and other community meal programs. For three hours, Day of Caring volunteers supported this work by weeding and performing a range of other tasks.

In addition to the businesses that volunteered, three caring companies donated food for the event, with COBS Bread Richmond Centre and Starbucks Terra Nova providing breakfast, and Pacific Gateway Hotel catering lunch.
