We are still a week away from Christmas, but a Richmond church has already prepared 900 classic turkey dinners for people in need.
Richmond Emmanuel Church, in the heart of the city on Elmbridge Way, is ready to serve hundreds of people for free over the weekend.
Zenbia Chen, a member of the Emmanuel Church, told the Richmond News that church volunteers have worked around the clock with Richmond's Continental Seafood Restaurant chefs to dish up and package dinners of turkey meat, mashed potatoes, clam chowder, cranberry sauce, gravy and home-made cookies.
These meals are for anyone who needs a helping hand, including single moms, seniors and people who want warm, comfort food over the holiday season, said Chen.
“In the spirit of Christmas, we hope no one is being left alone. So many local churches are doing the same thing, and we also hope to lift each other's spirit during this holiday season,” added Chen.
