More than 80 people in need of help showed up at the 10th annual Richmond Community Connect event on Sunday at St. Alban’s Church.

Hot food - including a pancake breakfast from Steveston Rotary and hamburgers and potato salad from the church’s Outreach and Advocacy program – was served to the special guests for the day, the majority of whom are homeless in Richmond.

As well as the food, medical care, dental care, haircuts and bike maintenance was donated by around 35 vendors from the local business community.

Special photographic portraits were also taken by Larry Scherban, who donated his services to the event.

According to organizers, the photos are extremely popular among the VIPs for the day, some of whom haven’t had their picture taken in decades.

One of them, Donnie, was dubbed "Mr. Hollywood" after his makeover, as seen in the pictures.
