The two-day annual plant sale put on by the Richmond Garden Club is a premier event for gardeners.
The club started in 1957 and has helped generations of Richmondites grow their own produce and flowering plants.
The club encourages gardeners to grow healthy food for their families through best practices in gardening.
And members work to encourage an awareness of the importance of providing flowers for the many pollinating insects that form an essential part of our environment.
Last weekend’s sale – on Mother’s Day weekend – featured a wide variety of colours, sizes and types of items for the garden as well as a table of garden-themed gifts.
London Farm is the site for this annual sale.
The preservation of the farm and its wonderful farm house is one of the best decisions made by Richmond city council.
This year, as usual, a steady stream of devotees entered the River Road location, looking for ways to enhance their yards.
The volunteers from the Richmond Garden Club provided friendly, helpful advice.
The layout of the plant sale is excellent, with signs indicating which plants like shade or sun, which ones are perennials or annuals — as well as information on plant care.
If you missed the sale this year, there's more information about the events and activities of the Garden Club on their website.
