A Richmond-based animal welfare charity is offering gift cards for its hospital, with up to 50 per cent added value, to help pet owners during the pandemic.
The Regional Animal Protection Society (RAPS) runs the non-profit hospital out of the Richmond Auto Mall near Westminster Highway and Sidaway Road.
On Thursday, RAPS announced its gift card program as part of a series of initiatives aimed at assisting families with companion animals during the economic and social disruption associated with the pandemic.
“The gift cards cost $100, but have a value up to $150,” said Eyal Lichtmann, CEO of RAPS.
The $100 card comes with a $20 bonus gift, plus recipients are enrolled in RAPS Animal Hospital’s VIP program, which offers 25 per cent off almost all in-hospital services and even deeper discounts on monthly specials.
“For 25 years, RAPS has been helping animals and their people,” added Lichtmann.
“Since opening the RAPS Animal Hospital just over two years ago, we have provided more than $1.2 million in partially or fully subsidized care to animals in households with low incomes or facing other challenges and we expect that number to reach $2 million in subsidized assistance this year.”
In addition to the gift card program, RAPS wants the public to be aware of other services in place to help in difficult times, including a No-interest Wellness Payment Plan for veterinary care, home delivery of pet foods and supplies and its Pet Food Bank.
In addition, RAPS Animal Hospital has implemented strict protocols to allow the continued delivery of veterinary services while limiting human-to-human interactions.
