Grade 10 student Isadora Chan shows off her ERASE Bullying 2017 winning poster design, which is part of the City of Richmond’s contribution to Pink Shirt Day.

A call for people to work together to help eliminate bullying was the inspiration behind Isidora Chan’s winning design in this year’s ERASE Bullying Youth Artist Poster Contest.

The Grade 10 student’s piece was multilingual and included elements that represent the cultural diversity of Richmond, while depicting bullies being erased.

The annual contest is an opportunity for Richmond youth in Grades 8 - 12 to showcase their creative side, and express themselves artistically, while bringing awareness of the need to end bullying.

New for 2017 was the ERASE Bullying Video Contest, coordinated by the Richmond School District.

This contest provided students with an opportunity to use video images and stories to show what students can do, and are currently doing, to cultivate a safe and caring school environment that promotes a culture of student connectedness.

Judges selected the winning video, ERASE Bullying, by Grade 12 students Isaiah Lopez and Robert Deguzman.

The video is available for viewing on the school district’s website, Facebook page and Twitter feed.

The City of Richmond will also share it on social media.

Both contests are part of the Respectful City ERASE Bullying Youth Initiative.
