More than 2,400 students rocked to the tune of kindness at Cambie secondary’s pre-Pink Shirt Day event on Monday.

The students from Grades 4 - 12 rolled in from 21 schools across the city for one of three, 80-minute concerts performed by band Kindness Rocks, which produces an educational and interactive youth empowerment show with messages including empathy, compassion and social responsibility.

Students from Cambie were heavily involved in the performance, including contributions from the school’s dance team and choir.

“I cannot think of a better way to kick off Erase Bullying week than to share this educational, interactive and inspirational youth empowerment show with so many students in our district,” said Cambie secondary principal Rob Laing.’

“Not only did students experience a professional quality musical production, but they were also impacted by the powerful personal stories.

“Our challenge to these students is to take the messages from Kindness Rocks and put them into action in their own schools, in their homes, and in our greater community.”
