Sometimes it is helpful to revisit where we came from -- to understand better where we are now.
The current exhibit at the Richmond Museum — called Family Treasures — offers this opportunity. This excellent venue has a display of family treasures and heirlooms that collectively reflect a portrait of our not-too-distant past.
Through a collection of clothing, kitchenware, gadgets, quilts and other products of the mid-1900s, we can gather a sense of daily life in British Columbia.
A vintage Volkswagen — frequently photographed— sets the scene for the other venerable treasures.
And there is also the discovery area for children. This area at the back of the museum features scaled-down seating and a table, with hands-on, interactive games and activities for children six years old and younger.
The museum is located in the same building as the Richmond Public Library and Richmond Cultural Centre so you can easily arrange a multipurpose visit.
The Family Treasures exhibit is on from Sept. 21, 2024, to Aug. 17, 2025.
More information about the museum and its offerings can be found here.
