The last opportunity to save big on a coordinated fitness training program in Richmond is fast approaching.

When the spots are filled on the City of Richmond program, registration will close.

The city, in partnership with the Richmond Fitness and Wellness Association, is offering a discount on courses to become a fitness attendant.

For successful participants, this may lead to job opportunities at the new Minoru Centre for Active Living.

The first training program sold out quickly and more dates have just been added. Registration is now open.

The training program will be hosted at various Richmond community facilities on weekends throughout September and October starting Saturday, Sept. 15.

Fitness Theory and Weight Training courses will be offered at a 45 per cent discount. This is the last set of dates that will be offered ahead of the opening of Minoru Centre for Active Living, which features a 2,590 square metre (8,500 square feet) fitness centre with state-of-the-art cardio, strength and functional training equipment.

Course participants learn training fundamentals and how to work as a fitness attendant.

Participants are supported through each step to become registered fitness leaders with the British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) and join a growing team of passionate fitness professionals.

No previous fitness experience is required. The best fitness leaders are those who love to move, inspire others and are keen to learn.
