Nine-year-old Williams Bridge elementary student Dov Harel found a four leaf clover along Richmond's Railway Greenway.

It was a lucky day for one young Richmondite.

Dov Harel, 9, managed to find a four leaf clover while out for a family bike ride on Thursday.

“I was looking for it, and then I actually found one, which was amazing,” said the William Bridge Elementary student. “I was really lucky.”

The family of four often goes for bike rides along the Railway Greenway, said mom Laurie David-Harel, which is where Dov found the clover on the side of the path, roughly between Blundell Road and Westminster Highway.

“He was just delighted, and running around. He was so excited,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it. I thought he was tricking me – like maybe he pulled another leaf.”

Dov admitted he also had his doubts.

“I didn’t think it was actually a real four leaf clover, but then it ended up being one,” he said, adding he still has the clover.

Laurie, who teaches at Williams Bridge, said she hoped the lucky moment would help raise people’s spirits and “maybe inspire other kids to do a little bit more exploration on the (Railway Greenway).”

It's estimated that around one in 10,000 clovers have four leaves, according to Scientific American.
