The National Seniors Week began today with an opening ceremony at the West Richmond Community Centre. People gathered to enjoy music, dancing and entertainment.
Throughout this week, 13 free or low-cost fun activities will be held for seniors in Richmond, including Qi Gong, music, walking and food gathering.
The activities aim to help seniors celebrate and socialize with community members while participating in activities that promote healthy and active aging, according to the City of Richmond.
Registration is required for most events. People can register online at Richmond.ca/Register using each event’s barcode. Registrations can also be made by calling 604-276-4300 or visiting in person at the recreation and cultural facilities during office hours.
Transportation is available for some events to and from Cambie, City Centre, Hamilton, Minoru Place Activity Centre, South Arm, Steveston, Thompson and West Richmond community centres, with a cost of $3 per event.
