Thursday July 20, Chinese Bunkhouse at Britannia Shipyard: “Sangre Morena,” show time 7:30 p.m.

Elsa Rojas Marquez and Jose Gimenez have been performing together as Sangre Morena since 2007, playing traditional songs ranging from Spanish Flamenco to the romantic ballads of Mexico.

With Marquez’ Mexican heritage and their love for virtually all Latin music, they appeal to the Latin community, and to a wider audience who also share the passion and romance of their music.

Marquez’ soulful singing and expression, with Gimenez’ passionate guitar playing, constantly weave to make each song special.

Sangre Morena performs songs that are sung at fiestas throughout Spain, Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

When in front of Latin Americans, the songs are familiar to the audience, which often sings along and even cries, because of the memories the songs evoke.

For non-Latins, the infectious rhythms and emotional interpretations cross language barriers, which entertain and delight the listeners.

Be prepared to get fully involved and gasping for breath with Sangre Morena’s thrilling performance.
