Members of the Richmond BC Pickleball Association (RBCPA) gathered at the Hugh Boyd pickleball courts last week for an afternoon of games, warm companionship — and giving back.

The RBCPA's inaugural member appreciation summer social consisted of two 2-hour sessions on Aug. 7, with a total of 120 members in attendance. The theme of the event was "giving back."

At the event, RBCPA presented a $2,000 cheque to Kidsport Richmond, which were proceeds from the RBCPA's recent charity tournament.

"The donation was in keeping with one of the Association's aims to 'give back' to the community at large," said Gordon Farrell, president of the RBCPA.

RBCPA was formed in 2019 with the goal to advocate for the growth of pickleball racquet sports in the city of Richmond.
