Friends of the Richmond Library raised $37,000 for local public libraries through used book sales.

Richmond Public Library recently received a $37,000 donation collected from second-hand book sales.

Friends of the Richmond Library, which holds regular book sales to raise funds for local libraries, handed over the cheque last week on Jan. 31.

The non-profit, founded in 1972, is dedicated to advocating for and supporting better library services and the freedom to read in Richmond. It held its first book sale of the year at Cambie library last month.

Friends of the Richmond Library's used bookstore at 130-11590 Cambie Road is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays and it is scheduled to hold another mini sale at Cambie library on Feb. 24 and 25.
