Catch, jump, throw, run – kids can play and improve their physical literacy skills all summer long by participating in a series of free, fun and inclusive activities at various Richmond events.

The City of Richmond’s Physical Literacy Street Team will be attending events throughout the summer, thanks to new funding from The Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA).

TAFISA selected the City of Richmond to receive $3,000 to host events aimed at increasing physical activity.

The goal of the Richmond Physical Literacy Street Team is to promote opportunities for children to develop the fundamental movement skills they need to be confident in participating in physical activity and sport throughout their lives. These include skills such as kicking, throwing, running, jumping and balancing.

This summer’s grant-supported events include:

- July 28, Aug. 4 and Aug. 18: South Arm Outdoor Pool.

- July 30: Tim Horton’s Day Free Swim, 12-4 p.m. at South Arm Outdoor Pool.

- Aug. 9: Cambie Summer Fun Night, 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at King George Park.

- Aug. 16: Cambie Summer Fun Night, 5:30-8 p.m. at King George Park.
