A free concert is being held in Richmond to celebrate the 100th birthday of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the founder of Sahaja Yoga.

The Blossom Time concert will take place at Richmond Cultural Centre on Friday, March 17 at 5:30 p.m. and will feature performances by qawwali singer Anandita Basu, as well as local musicians and dancers.

Sahaja Yoga is a meditation method that "brings a breakthrough in the evolution of human awareness," according to the Vishwa Nirmala Dharma Educational Society. The practice was founded in 1970 and introduced to Vancouver more than four decades ago.

The concert, organized Sahaja Yoga BC, is a tribute to the founder's life. It will also be taking place in Surrey on March 18.
