Cosplay, a book sale, Garlic Fest and Cambie Community Carnival are happening this weekend

1. Cambie Community Carnival

The Cambie Community Centre is holding a free end-of-summer Carnival, which includes outdoor games, crafts, entertainment and inflatables. Rock’N’Beau is the host with music and dance games. The event is for all ages and the site is partially accessible.

There will be a concession stand and a food truck. Organizers ask attendees to bring cash for the concession.

2. Garlic Fest

The Garlic Fest at the Sharing Farm in Terra Nova returns for the 15th time. In addition to garlicky eats, there will be live entertainment, kids’ activities, unique attractions such as birds-of-prey flying demonstrations and dozens of local farmers, artisans and food vendors. 

Saturday, Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Sharing Farm, 2771 Westminster Hwy. (Parking is limited. Shuttles from from 5599 Lynas Lane and Richmond City Hall, 6911 No. 3 Rd.)

2. Library book sale

Friends of the Richmond Library is holding a mini-sale with a wide range of donated, some unopened English and Chinese books. Genres include fiction, classics and literature, cookbooks, children’s and more non-fiction categories. All proceeds benefit Richmond public libraries. Bring cash for payment as well as boxes or bags for book purchases.

4. Cars and Cosplay

A car show and cosplay event takes place this Saturday evening. There will be vendors, giveaways and cars on display.

4. Art sale 

Richmond Centre for Disability is holding an art sale until Aug. 22. 

Runs until Aug. 22, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

5. Multi-sensory bat exhibit

There’s one week left to learn about bats at the Nature House at Richmond Nature Park. The immersive, multi-sensory exhibit, Bats: Out of the Darkness, on loan from the Kelowna Museum, showcases the lives of bats through a family-friendly experience. For more information about the exhibit, visit the Nature Park's website.
