The Ling Yen Mountain Temple is one of many Budhist temples in Richmond open to the public for Chinese New Year.

On New Year’s Day (Saturday, Jan. 28) visitors are welcome to the International Buddhist Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in North America, to pay respects and pray for good fortune.

Modeled after the Forbidden City in Beijing, the International Buddhist Temple is a sight to be seen, especially on Chinese New Year. It is said that those who pray at temples will be blessed for the coming year.

Other Buddhist temples in Richmond where you can pray for good fortune include the Ling Yen Mountain Temple and Thrangu Monastery, the first traditional Tibetan monastery in Canada.

Visitors of all faiths and religions are welcome to attend the festivities and join prayer and meditation services.
