Youth Week is coming up on May 1 and Richmond has several days of activities planned in celebration.

BC Youth Week is an annual provincial celebration held during the first week of May with the hope of highlighting the connection between youth and their communities.  

“Richmond’s youth contribute greatly to our community’s vibrancy,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie in a press release.

“We are proud to offer, alongside our community partners, a variety of Youth Week activities for young people to connect, be creative, have fun and experience something meaningful.”

Over a dozen activities are scheduled, ranging from archery tag, to a BBQ, to an awards ceremony recognizing youth contributions.

Highlights on the schedule include:

Wednesday, May 1 - Andante Café

5 to 7 p.m.

City Centre Community Centre

Come out for some light refreshments and awesome performances by local youth. The Andante Café will showcase music, dance and other forms of performance art.

Thursday, May 2 - City of Richmond U-ROC Youth Awards

5:30 to 9 p.m.

Gateway Theatre

Celebrate the achievements and dedication of Richmond’s Youth Groups, Outstanding Youth and Asset Champions. This event is by invitation only.

Friday May 3 - Mega Youth Hangout

6 to 11:30 p.m.

Cambie Community Centre

Open to all Richmond youth, come and hangout with food, games, open gym, music, prizes and more. Free for youth 13-18 years.

May 1 to 7 – Youth Week at the Oval
