You’re guaranteed a conversation about soccer when you visit Davood Khatami’s coffee shop in Steveston. - Best of Richmond 2016

If you’re not a disciple of Starbucks or Tim’s, there isn’t much in or around central Richmond in the way of independent java pushers.

Steveston is most likely your best bet for peeps who prefer a little more personality with their daily fix of caffeine.

Enter stage left, Davood Khatami, the animated and, dare we say, slightly eccentric German soccer-loving, Iranian owner of Davood’s in the heart of Steveston Village.

If you can get away from the talkative Khatami, you will usually enjoy a fine, hand-made cuppa of your choice, be it espresso, cappuccino, Americano or skinny whatever.

Davood’s, formerly Bean & Beyond, also has a cute, little patio outside, where you can watch village life ebb and flow to your heart’s content.
