In celebration of National Poetry Month, the Richmond Public Library is hosting the 12th annual Teen Poetry Contest this month.

Until April 30, teens are invited to submit an original poem for the chance to win a Richmond Centre gift card.

Any format of poem will be accepted, as long as it’s no longer than one, single-spaced type page. There will be two age categories, one for ages 12 to 15 and a second for ages 16 to 18.

Poems will be judged for their creativity, clarity, originality and the literary merit of their message.

Two prizes are up for grabs in each age category, including a first place prize of $25 and a second place prize of $10.

To enter, interested teens should submit their entries to any Richmond Public Library branch by closing on April 30 or by email to [email protected].
