To celebrate the kick-off to summer, a Richmond liquor store is donating a percentage of its sales to a transition house for vulnerable women and children.

JAK’S Beer, Wine and Spirits, on Sea Island Way, is teaming up with Nova Transition House on Saturday, June 23, with 10 per cent of sales on the day going to the charity.

Nova House provides a variety of safe housing and practical assistance to vulnerable women and children in Richmond.

“We have been supporting the Richmond community since 1981 and helping on average 134 women and 90 children each year,” said Nancy Nguyen, Nova’s program coordinator.

“We always welcome community and corporate support of our charity.”

JAKS’ community outreach partner, Mike McKee, said his company are “proud corporate citizens of Richmond and we are pleased to help such a worth charity.”
