Photos: Richmond non-profit raises $230,000 at gala

Pathways Clubhouse got a surprise donation at its annual fundraiser on Tuesday.

A gala earlier this week raised $230,000 for Pathways Clubhouse, a Richmond non-profit that supports people with mental illness – setting a new record.

Several fundraisers at the gala, including a silent auction, a wine wall and 50/50, raised $80,000, and the non-profit was aware of a $50,000 donation coming from Pattison Foundation that evening.

But a donation of $100,000 was a complete surprise to Dave MacDonald, executive director of Pathways – this was raised by various corporate divisions at Jim Pattison Enterprises and was presented by Dan Nomura, president of one division, Canadian Fishing Company.

“This is exciting as we will now be able to go full force in providing much needed mental health supports to the youth and young adults in Richmond,” MacDonald explained after the event.

This was Pathways’ 14th annual gala, and the first time it was held at the River Rock Casino.
