Music at the Cannery concert series returns to Steveston's Gulf of Georgia cannery

Steveston’s summer concert series, Music at the Cannery, is returning to the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, with shows every Friday night from July 12 to Aug. 30. 

Bands will take to the outdoor Tank Deck stage at 6:30 p.m., offering up a range of music including folk, swing, blues rock and jazz.

Read on for the summer series’ line-up: 

July 12: Irish Waker & Friends: Irish and Maritime music featuring the fiddle, Irish flute, mandolin, guitar and bodhran, with nods to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and seafarers everywhere;

July 19: Halifax Wharf Rats: Vancouver band featuring Irish and Scottish pub tunes, East Coast maritime songs and folk rock reminiscent of a toe-tapping kitchen party around the bay;

July 26: Rock Line: A long-time favourite of Music at the Cannery, father-and-son duo Gerry and Trevor Layton bring the best of Brit Rock along with their own original releases; 

Aug. 2: Harpdog Brown Quartet: Award-winning harmonica player and one of Canada’s premiere blues singers the Harpdog Brown Quartet brings blues and roots music to the Cannery;

Aug. 9: Steve Kozak Band: Maple Blues Award-winning guitarist Steve Kozak performs west-coast-style soul and roots music;

Aug. 16: Beauty Shop Dolls: Performing dance hall classics from decades past, this vintage vocal trio take on the classic stylings reminiscent of The Andrews Sisters and The Chordettes;

Aug. 23: Willy Blizzard: This Indie Folk/Roots trio brings you classic Canadiana with the warm sounds of double bass, acoustic and electric guitar and banjo;

Aug. 30: Illiteraty: Vancouver-based folk band performs their eclectic set list including blues, jazz, folk and more.
