To mark the recent re-opening of its shopping centre, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet near Vancouver Airport is providing customers with the opportunity to give back to the community this weekend.

McArthurGlen has partnered with youth soccer organization Richmond FC to host a food drive this Saturday and Sunday to encourage donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries for those that need it most.

The no-contact food drive, facilitated by shopping centre staff and Richmond FC, will take place May 23 and 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with all donations provided to the Richmond Food Bank.

The food bank is in need of peanut butter, soup, canned meat and fish, rice, pasta, cereal, canned vegetables, tomato sauce, and canned fruit, as well as baby food and formula, unopened toiletries, personal hygiene items, and feminine hygiene products.

Shoppers and community members can drop off the items through a no-contact loading zone hosted by Richmond FC at the main entrance to McArthurGlen, near guest services.

All items will be cleaned and sanitized thoroughly after being dropped off at the food bank.

The centre’s brand partners will be providing disposable bags to help facilitate safe transport of donated items as reusable bags are currently not permitted.
