Snow may be on the way this weekend and while it’s likely to be washed away quickly by rain, it’s certainly a sign that cold, winter weather is just around the corner.

With that wintery season coming, the City of Richmond is calling on residents to volunteer to join the Snow Angel program.

Snow Angels are volunteers that provide snow removal assistance to the elderly or those in need during significant storms. In other words, these helpful community members clear sidewalks and walkways for those who may struggle to do it themselves.

Those with health and mobility challenges who have been negatively affected by a major snowfall of five or more centimetres are encouraged to call their nearest Snow Angel coordinator. Service is not guaranteed and depends on the number of volunteers available. Snow Angels do not pick-up or deliver medication or groceries.
