Richmondites with a passion for history and a dramatic flair are encouraged to volunteer to be a heritage ambassador this summer.

Volunteers will don period costumes, demonstrate historical activities like churning butter and share what early life was like in Steveston with visitors throughout the summer.

Ambassadors will work at the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site, the Steveston Tram, the Steveston Museum and London Heritage Farm. Volunteers with skills in sewing, woodworking or playing Mahjong are specifically being sought.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old and willing to commit to six shifts throughout July and August. An information is scheduled for this Saturday, April 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Chinese Bunkhouse at Britannia Shipyards.

Those interested can sign up for the information at https://icanhelp.richmond.ca, by calling 604-238-8037 or by emailing shsvolunteers@richmond.ca.
