A free, sailing safety public information session is being hosted in Richmond this Wednesday evening by Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR).

Spurred by seeing way too many close calls on the Fraser River and the Georgia Strait, Richmond’s branch of the volunteer-run RCMSAR, known as Station 10, wants to educate the sailing public.

As well as RCMSAR members, in attendance will be representatives from the coast guard, the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) and the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.

So if you want to know how the marine search and rescue system works, want to know more about the marine traffic system, what the TSB does and what role the port authority plays, then get along to Steveston Community Centre from 7 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.
