Richmondites with a passion for animal welfare and an appetite for pasta are invited to join the BC SPCA Richmond branch’s Pasta “Pawty” this weekend.

Tickets include a pasta buffet with multiple types of sauce, garlic bread, salad, a drink and entertainment throughout the night. All proceeds from the event, hosted by the Buck and Ear Bar and Grill, go to benefit neglected and abused animals that are in the care of the BC SPCA Richmond Education and Adoption Centre.

Florence Wong, branch manager of the Richmond SPCA said that while the Richmond branch focuses primarily on the care of small animals, they too come with high expenses.

“Small animal care doesn’t come at a low cost,” Wong said. “Small animals, they might be a lower cost to acquire, but in terms of long term care, it does add up.”

Along with pasta, there will be a 50/50 draw, door prizes, a toonie toss and a silent auction with donations from local artists and businesses.

Approximately 60 tickets are sold currently, which is just over half the capacity of the event and Wong hopes to pack the bar on Saturday.

“Thank you to the local community for the support,” Wong said. “It’s just overwhelming how supportive everyone is, the care for animals who are looking for forever homes.”

When: Saturday, April 13, 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Buck and Ear Bar and Grill, 12111 Third Ave.

Tickets: $25, available here
