Richmond’s father-and-son duo – Mayberry and Monk – will be performing at the Concerts in the Park series on Wednesday evening at Garden City Park.

Anthony Morris and his 13-year-old son, Luca, will bring a mix of blues, rock and R&B to the stage.

Though the duo has performed together before, Luca, who is a ninth-grade student at Burnett Secondary School, will be leading the show for the first time tonight.

Morris grew up in Richmond as well and regularly teaches music at the City Centre Community Centre, Minoru Senior’s Centre, the Arts Connection and Richmond City Hall.

“Richmond’s music scene is very diverse; there’s a lot of tradition, folk and Celtic based music but also the newer pop genres,” said Morris, who has been performing for more than 30 years.

Morris plays the guitar, mandolin, ukulele and bass but will be sticking to just singing and guitar-playing tonight. Luca also plays the guitar.

Performances start at 6:30 p.m. at the north side of the park.

Here are the performers lined up for the rest of the summer:

Aug 8 - DJ Forest Walker

Aug 15 - John Pippus

Aug 22 - Susan Skemp

Aug 29 - Quayside Voices

If it’s raining, the event will be cancelled.
