Hit-and-run leaves Delta woman seriously hurt

Police are asking for the public’s help to track down a hit-and-run driver who struck a woman in Tsawwassen this evening. According to police, at around 6:30 p.m.

A driver struck a woman in a Tsawwassen crosswalk, then decided to drive around the victim and take off.

Police are asking for the public’s help to track down a hit-and-run driver who struck a woman in Tsawwassen this evening.

According to police, at around 6:30 p.m. a middle-age woman was crossing  in a crosswalk at 12th Avenue in the 5500 block when she was hit. They driver took off.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Witnesses relayed that a Ford Ranger pickup truck, possibly dark green in colour, struck the woman,” said Cris Leykauf, public affairs coordinator for Delta Police. “The driver initially stopped but then allegedly drove around the woman and fled the scene.”

Police are currently speaking to witnesses and gathering evidence including video. Twelfth Avenue was shut down east and west-bound at the 5500 block to allow police to conduct the investigation.
