SATURDAY The Buddha's Light International Association will host the 2012 BLIA Environmental and Spiritual Conservation Fair on Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13 at the King George Park.

The Buddha's Light International Association will host the 2012 BLIA Environmental and Spiritual Conservation Fair on Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13 at the King George Park. Conservation remains the theme of this annual fair, which is designed to promote a sustainable and ethical lifestyle. Admission is free. The fair will feature food, a marketplace and an exhibition on conservation. New for this year is a children's playing area with games to encourage family participation by bringing children to the fair. Also new is an interfaith blessing for world peace by five different religions at the opening ceremony on May 12 at 10 a.m.

Richmond Public Library is hosting a Philosopher's Café in Russian on Tuesday, May 15 from 7-9 p.m. in the second floor program room at the Brighouse (Main) Branch of RPL, 7700 Minoru Gate. The topic is: "The birth of Protestantism and the reasons that led to the revolt against medieval Roman Catholic doctrines." Guest speaker is Rev. Boris Bychkov. Are you or is someone you know misusing substances or experiencing problem gambling? Richmond Public Library is partnering with Richmond Addiction Services to offer a series of free, drop-in community education programs. The programs will take place from 7-9 p.m. in the second floor program room at the Brighouse (Main) Branch of Richmond Public Library, 7700 Minoru Gate. Drop in - no registration necessary. The sessions will cover issues related to substance use and misuse, gambling, and understanding what addiction is. The programs take place on Wednesdays May 16, 23. Jet-Leg Travel presents a Women's Fundraiser for Turning Point Richmond on Friday, May 18 from 7-9 p.m. at #110-12031 2nd Ave. in Steveston. Tickets are $10 + a donation of women's clothing. This year's Art at Work Series offers evening workshops.
